DAY 5
Activity:
My activity today wasn't so much a cultural event but actually I can link it to the other half of my project for november: only spend 100€ this month.
First I was baking an apple cake with the apples which I bought on DAY 1
All you need:
for my small apple cake which can serve 4 people I would say :
- 60g flour
- 60g sugar
- 60g butter or margarine
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tablespoon of baking powder
- 2 apples
- cinnamon for the apples
mix everything together and put the apples on top
baking time about 20 to 30 minutes at around 200 degrees Celsius
Unfortunately I only notice now that I don't have a picture of the cake before we ate it. It was really really good.
I chose to share my cake with my grandmother but before we went for a walk past my favorite apple tree. So I spent some time picking more apples - for free! It wasn't so easy because all the apples which I could've reached were already picked. It ended up being a sportive activity as well.
This is how much apples I picked - for possibilities like today I always carry around my apple-picking basket.
Weighing my pickings at home I am super happy to have picked a bit more than 2kg of fresh bio, organic and pesticide-free apples!!!
If you don't happen to know where the closest apple tree in your area is I recommend checking THIS website where you can find and register trees and other fruit-picking-possibilities.
My lunch today (which was at the same time my breakfast) was half of the cauliflower which I bought on DAY 1 plus some meatballs which I made and froze also from the meat from DAY 1 with a champignon-cream-sauce which I made with butter, flour and milk and the remaining 2 big mushrooms.
I hope you find some trees close to you and wish you happy picking before the winter comes.
